Grab a cuppa, let's chat.

I must warn you, my girlfriends often say "don't get her started" when it comes to the topic of empowering women in pregnancy, birth and motherhood, it lights me up - this work is my true purpose.

As a midwife, I have witnessed wide eyed the power of women. I have watched in awe the sacred relationship between mother and child and I have held space and support for women to calmly birth their babies into the world.

I continue to marvel at the miracle of new life.

I believe as we birth our babies, we too are rebirthed as mothers.

I am here to support that journey. Because, I deeply believe in women, our bodies and what we are capable of when we have the rights tools, education and support.

i've been where you are.

We welcomed our first baby girl into the world in 2013. I had been preparing for her arrival all throughout my pregnancy, but I must be honest, when we discovered she had her head tilted toward my pelvis (asynclitic) for the transitional part of my labour, everything I had learnt went out the window. I did not have the effective tools required to calmly birth her - and therefore pushed for 2 and a half hours before birthing her into my arms. Whilst looking back on my experience with Abbie I felt positive about her arrival but I knew when we were set to welcome baby number two in 2016 that I needed more support and tools to create the calm and natural birth, I so deeply desired.

And so, my love of Hypnobirthing was born - along with my baby boy, Ollie. Our own Hypnobub. Even through, he turned posterior during my transitional stage of labour, I felt empowered by the skills I had learnt to stay present, calm and empowered in those more vulnerable moments. The trust and knowing I had in my body coupled with tools I had learnt, allowed me to calmly and mindfully push baby Ollie out into the world within 20 minutes.

I believe in the power of the Hypnobirthing Australia™ course because I have experienced and embodied it.

Putting all I know into practice again in 2020 when I birthed my third baby - Hypnobaby Girl Emmie. I absolutely loved my labour and birth experience, I felt like I was able to slow it down and enjoy it even though it was a 2.5hr labour. Nurturing myself with massage and acupuncture in the lead up, using a TENS machine this time around which was a wonderful distraction as the surges intensified. I made myself comfortable moving between leaning over the birth ball to side lying in front of my vision board until I started to recognise the signs, after a trip to the toilet, that I would be meeting my baby soon, calling my midwife to come, using my partner for support with anchor touch, transition was calling… my midwife walked in, my waters released, I entered the pool and 10 mins later I birthed my baby into my arms with the love and support of my family around me, it was the most ecstatic feeling. If you would like to share in some of my birth photos and story please click here.

And I, hand on heart believe you can also have a birth experience that is not ruled by fear and instead empowering, positive and an experience you will fondly remember for the rest of your life - regardless of whatever turn it may take.

Here is a quick snapshot of my career, so far

  • It was my keen interest in women's health that eventuated into a degree in Midwifery.

  • I became a fully qualified Registered Midwife in 2007, and whilst I loved my training I believe it has been the other amazing midwives I have worked with and learnt from over the years that really developed my skills and lifelong passion.

  • I completed my grad year at the Women's and Children's hospital in Adelaide in 2008 and from there went into the Midwifery Group Practice, a continuation of the care model.

  • I provided antenatal childbirth education within the hospital environment. I believe this is a great start for women, however I feel there is not enough provided in this space to inspire a positive, calm and well prepared birth.

  • I am an accredited Hypnobirthing Australia™ Practitioner since 2017 and crazy about this beautiful, current and fast growing evidence based childbirth program.

  • Completed Birth Story Listening with Birthing from Within in 2019, now offering Birth Story Medicine Session.

  • Optimal Maternal Positioning Ambassador Training completed in June 2019.

'The things that excite you are not random. They are connected to your purpose. Follow them'

And so, with years of experience working as a midwife, and providing antenatal childbirth education within the hospital system, I knew there was a place for Hypnobirthing within my journey. These tools can radically change the way women experience childbirth, and it has become my mission to spread this message backed with my experience and a whole lot of heart.

Let's get to know each other a little better -

I'm a wife and a mumma to 3 beautiful babies.

Mum life can certainly be an exhausting ride at times, but there is no place I'd rather be. My children are pure joy to me, and throw in a wonderful husband to the mix, and I am a very happy women.

A FEW FUN THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW;

  • If you are looking for me, it is likely you will find me at the beach, living in Largs Bay, SA. It is only a short walk from home, this is my happy place, it grounds me, energises me and inspires me all at once.

  • We love taking our little family off on adventures, taking off to holiday houses during the school holidays as hubby is a teacher.

  • My 'me' time is spent in Yoga class or enjoying a cup of tea.

  • I love being in the kitchen, cooking and baking are my thing.

  • I will never pass on an opportunity to catch up with friends and family.

I am so thrilled you have stumbled across my work, and I hope to inspire your positive birthing journey.
