Birth Elena... Positive Induction Story

I wanted to share our update with you. It's been a crazy week and our little girl, Elena, was born Monday 24th October at 2.33pm.

The birth was as calm as we had hoped for, no interventions or epidural needed even though I was induced in the end.

We wanted to say a huge thank you for your support and guidance. It made such a difference going in feeling like I knew what was going to happen and that Stefan knew how to help me too.

After 2 VEs at about 38 and 39 weeks, we made the decision to book in an induction for 39+4. I went into hospital and had the tape put in on Sunday night. Listened to the hypnobirthing tracks all night to try and stay calm and get some sleep. The OB came to break my waters at 8am, I was 1-2cm dilated. Then after half an hour I was put on the drip, and I started getting tightening’s. I asked for the wireless monitors so I could move around and spent a bit of time trying different positions. I spent a bit of time lying on my side when I felt something change and my whole body felt like it just wanted to push. The midwife was so good she just told me to listen to my body and do what I needed to. She went to update my student midwife and OB. I wanted to stay on the toilet but the midwife asked me about putting the scalp monitoring on so I could keep moving again. This was the only time I was checked and after this I spent the next 2 hours standing over the side of the bed swaying. Stefan talked to me and did the soft touch massage, and my student midwife applied a warm compress. I had gas and air in one hand and comb in the other as I breathed her out. They passed her to me between my legs and straight onto my chest for the next hour.

I can't believe how smoothly it all went and we are so glad we did the hypnobirthing course with you. Thank you again! We hope to see you at one of the hypnobirthing catch ups in the future.

Thanks,

Zoe, Stefan and Elena
